Two men aged 23 and 27 have been charged following an alleged unlawful entry and assault in Alice Springs earlier this week.
Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said it is alleged the two offenders forced their way into a residence in Gillen at around 8pm on Tuesday.
“The two men allegedly assaulted a 25-year-old male occupant of the house and stole wallets, phones and cigarettes before fleeing.
“The victim was taken to Alice Springs Hospital to receive treatment for injuries to his head.
“Members from the Tactical Investigation Squad arrested the two men yesterday.”
They were charged with:
Unlawful entry of an occupied dwelling armed with a weapon
Unlawfully damage property
Unlawfully cause serious harm
Aggravated assault
Stealing
They have been remanded in custody to appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
