Two Youths Arrested – Aggravated Unlawful Entry

Northern Territory Police have arrested and charged a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old female following a number of unlawful entries in Darwin and Katherine.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer from Strike Force Trident said it is alleged that the youths broke into a Woodroffe residence and stole several items including a white Toyota Kluger.

“It is alleged that the youths then drove the vehicle to Katherine where they abandoned it. 

“The youths then allegedly broke into a Katherine residence and stole a maroon Mazda, valued at $20,000.”

Both youths were later apprehended by police.

The 16-year-old male was charged with:

  • Aggravated Unlawful Entry (x3)
  • Stealing (x4)
  • Drive Unlicensed (x3)
  • Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle (x3)
  • Fail to obey direction of police
  • Exceed speed by 30 kilometres an hour

The 17-year-old female was charged with:

  • Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle (x2)
  • Stealing (x2)
  • Aggravated Unlawful Entry

They will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

“This offending is quite concerning to us,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer.  

“Youths breaking into houses, stealing cars and driving around unlicensed is a recipe for disaster.”
