Crime Spree - Youth Charged - Palmerston

Strike Force Trident has charged a 16-year-old male youth with over 20 offences following a crime spree throughout Palmerston this month.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said Police allege the youth stole several motor vehicles and broke into a number of residences between 2 and 13 April.

“The youth was witnessed allegedly driving a motor vehicle that had been stolen from a residence in Katherine earlier this month, it was later recovered by Police abandoned in Marlow Lagoon.

“It is alleged the youth unlawfully entered a residence in Moulden on 6 April and assaulted one of the occupants, threatened them with a slug gun and fled with a watch valued at $250.

“Police allege the youth unlawfully entered a further three residences in in Rosebery and Woodroffe, stole three vehicles and drove off with $37 worth of petrol from a service station in Coolalinga without paying.

“Police recovered all three vehicles and estimate the total value of property stolen was $44,600.

“Detectives from Strike Force Trident arrested the youth at a residence in Moulden yesterday.

He was charged with:

Aggravated robbery (x2)

Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x5)

Aggravated unlawful entry (x3)

Aggravated assault (x2)

Possess/use firearm while unlicensed

Drive a vehicle in a dangerous manner (x2)

Drive a motor vehicle whilst unlicensed (x5)

Stealing (x3)

Fail to comply with Police Officers direction (x2)

Trespass on premises

He will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court today.
