Aggravated Assault – Alice Springs

Police

Strike Force Romulus members have arrested and charged a 40-year-old male with aggravated assault following an altercation in Alice Springs.

Detective Sergeant Jon Beer from the Southern Domestic Violence Prevention Unit said it is alleged the offender assaulted a female at an Alice Springs camp on Wednesday night.

“She was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital and treated for injuries sustained during the assault.

“The alleged offender was arrested yesterday morning and charged with aggravated assault and breaching a domestic violence order.”

He will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“Everyone has a right to feel safe no matter where they are and they should not fear being assaulted by anyone let alone by family members,” said Detective Sergeant Beer.

“The Northern Territory Police will continue to target those who perpetrate acts of violence and will do everything we can do put these people before the courts.

“If you witness acts of violence we encourage you to stand up and report this behaviour to Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. In case of an emergency, please dial 000.”
