Major Crash Investigation - Alice Springs

Police

Major Crash Investigation Section Officers are examining the scene of a crash between a Holden Commodore sedan and a St John Ambulance in Alice Springs overnight.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said the crash occurred on Telegraph Terrace just before midnight.

“Early indications suggest the car has collided with the rear of the ambulance, forcing the emergency vehicle into a tree.

“The sedan has spun 180 degrees following the impact, trapping the 34-year-old male driver in the car.

“Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Members had to cut the man out of the vehicle.  He was taken to Alice Springs Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

“Luckily, the Paramedics in the ambulance suffered only minor injuries.”

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Lindner said the ambulance was not transporting a patient and did not have emergency lights activated at the time of the crash.

“Alcohol and speed have not been ruled out as contributing factors.

“Major Crash Investigators are calling for any witnesses to please contact Police on 131 444.”
