Escaped Corrections Detainees - Berrimah

NT Police are currently searching for two youths who escaped custody while being transported to Don Dale Correctional Facility.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Akers of Serious Crime Unit said the two males escaped custody at approximately 5.35pm this evening.

“Five youths were being transported to Don Dale Detention facility when three of the five escaped.

“One of the youths was recaptured by Corrections within a short time and two remain outstanding.

The outstanding males are described as:

16-year-old, of Indigenous appearance, believed to be wearing a red pin-striped shirt and brown shorts.

16-year-old male, of Indigenous appearance, believed to be wearing a black shirt with football shorts.

“Police are covering the area around Tiger Brennan Drive, Tivendale Road and Berrimah Road and have utilised the Dog Operations Unit.

“If anyone sees either of these youths, or has information relating to their whereabouts, Police urge them not to approach them but to contact Police immediately on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
