Alice Springs Police have charged a 33-year-old man for the alleged assault of his 30-year-old partner last night.

Superintendent Brent Warren said Police alleged the offender struck his partner several times near Stuart Terrace in The Gap at around 6:00pm.

“The victim fled to a nearby service station on Gap Road for assistance. She was then taken to Alice Springs Hospital to receive treatment for injuries.

“Police arrested the alleged offender nearby and charged him with aggravated assault, breach of bail and breach of an Alcohol Protection Order.”

He will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“NT Police do not tolerate acts of violence in any situation and we will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to Domestic and Family Violence. Safety is everyone’s right and we will hold offenders to account for their actions,” Superintendent Warren said.
