Aggravated Assault - Ali Curung

Northern Territory Police have charged a 28-year-old male with aggravated assault following a Domestic Violence incident in Ali Curung yesterday.

Remote Sergeant Jack Mather said Police were notified of the incident when a 23-year-old female attended Ali Curung Clinic with stab wounds to her hip and hand.

“Shortly after Police attended the residence where the incident occurred and arrested the alleged offender.

“The victim was airlifted to Alice Springs Hospital, where she is currently in a stable condition.

The male has been remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 5 May charged with:

Breach of an alcohol protection order

Breach of a domestic violence order

Aggravated Assault

Recklessly endangering serious harm (x2)

“Police are very disappointed by this incident. Alcohol fuelled violence continues to take a heavy toll on our community members. We will continue to target the perpetrators of domestic violence and bring them to justice,” said Sergeant Jack Mather.
