Aggravated Assault - Alice Springs

Police

Detectives from Strike Force Romulus have charged a 21-year-old male following the alleged assault of his 18-year-old partner.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said Police allege the offender attended a residence in Alice Springs on Saturday and struck the victim several times with a curtain rail.

“He fled the scene but was arrested by Police yesterday and charged with aggravated assault, breach of a Domestic Violence Order and armed with an offensive weapon.”

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“The Northern Territory Police will continue to target those who perpetrate acts of violence and will do everything we can do put these people before the courts,” Detective Superintendent Warren said.

“People need to think before putting themselves in situations where they end up assaulting their loved ones and become perpetrators of violence.”
