Police have charged a 21-year-old man for the alleged aggravated assault of his 19-year-old pregnant partner.

Acting Commander, Northern Command, Michael Hebb said Police allege the assault occurred yesterday morning in Lajamanu.

“The woman was flown to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment and remains in a stable condition.”

The man was charged with:

Assault person who suffers serious harm

Engage in conduct that contravenes a Domestic Violence Order

Armed with an offensive weapon

He has been remanded in custody and will appear in Katherine Magistrates Court today.
