Domestic Violence Offender Arrested - Alice Springs

Police

Detectives have arrested a 32-year-old man for outstanding warrants relating to the alleged aggravated assault of his 24-year-old partner and breach of a Domestic Violence Order (DVO).

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the offender allegedly assaulted his partner in South Australia in March and fled the state, with warrants issued for his arrest.

“The male also had a full non-contact DVO issued to him by South Australian Police prior to the alleged assault, which was registered in the Northern Territory.

“Strike Force Romulus received information from the Cross Border Domestic Violence Intelligence Desk that the 32-year-old man was in Alice Springs.

“Acting on this information, he was located by Detectives at a residence in Larapinta yesterday, in breach of the DVO.

“The Cross Border Justice Act means that people who break the law by assaulting their loved ones have nowhere to hide. Intelligence officers will use every source at their disposal to track offenders throughout Central Australia and coordinate their arrest by Police.

He will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court this afternoon.
