A 23-year-old male has been arrested in Tennant Creek following a fire at a service station at about 2.30am on Saturday 9 May.

Detective Sergeant Kieron Weller said the male had allegedly piled up vegetation around a bowser before setting it alight.

“The male has left the fire burning and walked to the rear of the property and allegedly set a grassfire.

“NT Fire and Rescue has responded and extinguished three fires in the area.”

Detective Sergeant Weller said information from the public and CCTV images have resulted in the man being identified and arrested a short time later.

He was charged with Arson, Recklessly Endanger Life and Damage to Property.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in the Tennant Creek Magistrates Court Today.
