Assault Ambulance Officer - Man Charged - Alawa

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad have charged a 19-year-old male in relation to the alleged assault of a St John Paramedic.

Detective Sergeant Karl Day said Paramedics responded to an incident involving a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in Alawa.

“A St John Paramedic proceeded to provided medical aid to the male, it is alleged the male assaulted the Paramedic causing him to fall to the ground. He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital and remains in a stable condition.”

The 19-year-old was arrested by Police at the scene and charged with:

Assault a worker – cause harm

Unlawfully cause serious harm

He has been remanded in custody and will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.
