Tennant Creek Investigation Unit Detectives have executed a search warrant on a property following information illicit drugs were possibly on site.
Senior Constable Paul Parkanyi said Police attended the property, approximately two kilometres north of Tennant Creek, yesterday.
“Police have allegedly found a significant amount of unsecured ammunition in the main living area of the residence. Further searches of the property have allegedly uncovered a total of 955 grams of cannabis.
“Also seized were ammunition magazines for assault rifles and a trench knife incorporating a ‘knuckle duster’ grip.
“Firearm manuals for military assault weapons were also seized.”
A 61-year-old male was arrested and charged with Possess and Supply a Commercial Quantity of Cannabis, Possess Ammunition without licence and Possess a Prohibited Weapon.
He will appear in the Tennant Creek Magistrates Court this morning.
