Operation Blackstone Wrap-up

Southern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk (SSAID) and Southern Dog Operations Unit (SDOU) members travelled to Blackstone Community (WA) to assist in a cross border multijurisdictional operation.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said members travelled to the annual Blackstone Festival in WA, from 13-18 May.

“Police Officers from the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia conducted vehicle screening for the purpose of detecting and deterring drugs entering remote communities.

“NT members also assisted in the execution of a drug search warrant which resulted in the arrest of a female on drug related charges in a remote South Australian community in the APY Lands.

Operation seizures:

183 grams of cannabis
$1050.00 cash
1 x vehicle
7 x drug related arrests
2 x arrests (Cross border arrest warrants) 1 arrested in WA on an NT warrant and the other male was arrested in WA for 3 outstanding warrants in the NT, SA and WA
1 x search warrant (premises) in South Australia
2 x drug infringement notice
22 x vehicles searched by Drug Detector Dog Wilson

“This multijurisdictional operation has proven effective in detecting the possession and supply of illicit substances throughout the cross border region,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Phillips said.
