Aggravated Assault - Arrest - Tennant Creek

A 43-year-old man remains in Police custody following the alleged aggravated assault of two people Tennant Creek yesterday afternoon.

Senior Constable Carl Marcic said Police allege the offender attended the home of his ex-partner, a 33-year-old female and her current partner, 54-year-old male and became involved in an altercation.

“Police allege the offender assaulted the man with a shovel and struck the woman when she tried to intervene.

“The alleged offender was arrested by Police a short time later.

“The two victims received injuries to their arms and head and have been transported to Alice Springs Hospital.

“The 43-year-old man was taken to Tennant Creek Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.

“Tennant Creek takes a zero tolerance with domestic and family violence and we encourage all community members to report any matters of domestic violence to ensure the safety of the community,” Senior Constable Marcic said.
