Northern Territory Police are investigating a Death in Custody that occurred in the Darwin Watch House overnight.

The 59 year old man was taken into Custody by Police around 6:00 pm Thursday 21 May 2015.

A routine cell check just after 9:00 pm found the man to be non-responsive.

Both the watch house nurse in attendance, and attending St Johns Ambulance confirmed the man to be deceased.

The Deputy Coroner has been advised and a full investigation for the Coroner, managed by the Crime Command has commenced.

“Police are currently investigating the Death in Custody on behalf of the Coroner and therefore no further details will be provided at this time.” Said Commander Michael Murphy.
