High Profile Police Presence - Alice Springs

Police

Police will be leading a joint agency approach to community safety across the weekend due to an expected increase in visitors to Alice Springs.

Superintendent Travis Wurst said this will start with a response to an event planned for the Memo Club on Thursday afternoon.

“Extra dedicated high visibility police patrols will commence on Thursday and will operate across the weekend into the following week.

“Police will work with Tangentyere Night Patrol who will co-ordinate the use of various Night Patrol teams from across Central Australia to assist with managing the influx of people into Alice Springs.

“Police welcome visitors to Alice Springs and remind them to:

Plan your stay
Ensure you have funds for accommodation
Plan your return home

Respect our community

“Anti-social behaviour and public intoxication will not be tolerated.

“Our collective aim will be to prevent anti-social behaviour, deal with offending as it occurs as well as identify and assist people at risk and while maintaining the amenity of Alice Springs.

“Police will maintain this strong presence in Alice Springs but urge the public to report any suspicious behaviour to Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
