Four Youths Arrested - Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police arrested four youths in relation to several property offences and a stealing with violence incident last night.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said Police are investigating an alleged assault upon a 40-year-old woman in a car park on Barrett Dive at around 11pm yesterday during which one of the youths attempted to steal her handbag.

“The victim was able to hold onto her handbag, it also alleged the youths entered her vehicle and stole several items before discarding them nearby.

“Police also allege that offenders attended a business on Stuart Terrace at around 2:10am and damage a window and door.

“Police attended the location and arrested a 16-year-old female a short time later.

“It is alleged offenders unlawfully entered a business on Hartley Street at around 2:50am and caused damage to the reception and kitchen area.

“No property was stolen at either location however Police estimate the total cost of damage of both properties to be significant.

“A detailed description of the offenders was provided to Police by a witness. This enabled CCTV Operators to locate and follow two females aged 12 and 14 and a 13 year-old male in the CBD. Police then arrested the trio near Stotts Terrace.

“Due to the excellent work of CCTV Operators and the General Duty Officers, Police were able to make a swift arrest and take these youths into custody. They are currently assisting Police with their enquiries.”
