Melbourne Demons vs Port Power AFL game on Saturday 30 May was well attended and the community of Alice Springs and visitors were able to enjoy the game without major incidents.
Superintendent Travis Wurst said Police planned for and delivered a strong response to the event to ensure the broader community was not adversely impacted.
“Police were actively supported by several other agencies and although there were many visitors in the community, the amenity of Alice Springs has not been diminished by the aftermath of this event.
“Police will continue to maintain high visibility patrols in and around the CBD into the coming days and will have a presence at all licensed takeaway outlets into next week.
“Police will maintain this strong presence in Alice Springs but urge the public to report any suspicious behaviour to Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
