Adelaide River Races Wrap Up

Police

Police were extremely disappointed with motorist’s behaviour at last weekend’s Adelaide River Races with 20 people apprehended for drink driving offences.

Superintendent Craig Barrett said four people returned a high range blood alcohol reading, the highest being registered at 0.160 percent BAC.

“It is also concerning that a further 13 people returned medium range blood alcohol readings.

“Police conducted 924 Random Breath Tests over the weekend and apprehended most of these drink driver leaving Adelaide River and attempting to make the 100 kilometre drive back to Darwin.

“This behaviour demonstrates the complete disregard these drivers have for themselves, their passengers and other road users.”

Police took five people into custody in relation to drink driving offences, a further four people were taken into custody for disorderly behaviour. One male was taken into custody for possessing methamphetamine.
