Strike Force Romulus Targets Domestic and Family Violence - Alice Springs

Members from Strike Force Romulus have charged a 37-year-old man in relation to the alleged assault of his partner.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said Police allege the offender assaulted the 42-year-old woman on the 12 April and again on 1 June at a residence in Braitling.

“The male was arrested by Police yesterday and charged with aggravated assault (x2) and breach of bail.”

He will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court later today.

“Strike Force Romulus is an ongoing operation targeting domestic and family violence in Alice Springs and has been running now for 35 weeks,” Detective Superintendent Warren said.

“During this time Police have made 147 arrests, issued 122 Domestic Violence Orders and served 81 summons notices in relation to 426 domestic and family violence offences.

“Domestic and Family Violence will not be tolerated and Northern Territory Police are committed to ensuring offenders are held accountable for their actions.

“We continue to encourage members of the public to take a stand against this unacceptable behaviour and report all acts of violence to Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
