Fraud accused found guilty

Police

A 56-year-old man has been found guilty of one count of Obtain Benefit by Deception in the Supreme Court.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karen Sanderson said today’s verdict was the result of a two-year investigation by Fraud Squad Members.

"Detectives investigating a claim of falsely representing an invoice found evidence the man was defrauding an Aboriginal Corporation of between $60,000 and $150,000.

"Police believe this male had failed in his duty of care, had breached the trust shown in him by the community and had taken advantage of people who were in a vulnerable position."

The man was remanded in custody and will be sentenced next week.
