Police are seeking public assistance in relation to an indecent assault that occurred in Katherine early yesterday morning.

Senior Constable Mitch Stephens said an unknown male unlawfully entered a room at a motel on Giles Street, near Auster Street, at around 3am.

“It is alleged the male indecently assaulted a 29-year-old woman as she slept. The woman woke and the offender fled the scene.

“Detectives from the Northern Investigation Section are investigating and enquiries are continuing.

“Police urge anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area between 2:30am and 3:30am yesterday or anyone with information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
