The search continues for a woman missing in Central Australia since Thursday.

An air and ground search has so far failed to locate the 64-year-old woman, identified as Cheryl Redway travelling with her husband Alan Redway, both from Millicent in South Australia.

“Today we are bringing in an additional helicopter and ground crew with motorbikes,” Superintendent Don Fry, Central Desert Division said.

“We have now searched more than 200 square kilometres for Mrs Redway.

“We believe we have found some markers which will influence the area we are searching today. The nature of the environment is such that helicopter is considered the best option to search.”

Mrs Redway became separated from her husband on Thursday morning while taking a walk near the Salt Creek rest area on Luritja Road, 48km north of the Lasseter Highway. The couple had been camping in the area for several days with friends.
