Alice Springs Police urge all residents who are heading away over the holidays to ensure their homes and vehicles are locked and their personal belongings are stored in a safe and secured place.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said if you are going away, let a neighbour or friend know and get them to check on your property.

“It only takes a moment for opportunistic thieves to take advantage of an unlocked door. It is a timely reminder for all residents to lock their vehicles and make sure their homes are secure.

“If you do see any suspicious activity in your local community you can report it to Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
