Cannabis Seized - Ngukurr

Police

Police have charged two people and seized a trafficable quantity of cannabis following a search warrant at a residence in Ngukurr this morning.

 

Detective Sergeant Ian Kennon said members from the Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk, Dog Operations Unit and Police from Ngukurr executed the search warrant at around 9:30am.

“As a result of search Police located and seized 208 grams of cannabis, some of which had been divided into deal bags, and drug paraphernalia.

“Police estimate that if the cannabis was sold in a remote community it could have fetched $20,870.

“A 30-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were arrested by Police.”

They were both charged with

  • Possess a scheduled 2 drug – trafficable quantity
  • Supply drug in a community
  • Possess thing to administer dangerous drug

They were remanded in custody and will appear in Katherine Magistrates Court tomorrow.

“Police will continue to target the individuals who profit from this kind of offending. If you intend to take cannabis or any illicit substances into remote communities, expect to be caught,” Detective Sergeant Kennon said.
