Methamphetamine Seized - Central Australia

Members from the Southern Drug & Intelligence Unit with the Southern Substance Abuse Investigation Desk have charged a 37-year-old man following the seizure of a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine in Central Australia.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said Detectives, acting on information, apprehended the male as he was re-fuelling his vehicle at Erldunda Road House at around 1:30pm yesterday.

"Detectives conducted a search of his vehicel and seized roughly an ‘ounce’ (28g) of methamphetamine.

“This is a significant seizure which was destined for Alice Springs. Police would like to thank members of the public who are continuing to pass on information and helping to remove this destructive drug from our community.

“By working together, we can have a real impact on the illicit drug scene in Alice Springs.”

The male has been charged with:

  • Supply methamphetamine – Trafficable quantity
  • Possess a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine in a public place
  • Possess thing to administer drug

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
