Aggravated Assault - Charges - Alice Springs

Members from Strike Force Romulus have charged a 47-year-old man for the alleged aggravated assault of his 50-year-old partner at a residence in Alice Springs.

ctive Acting Superintendent Peter Malley said the pair was involved in an altercation at around 9pm on Tuesday night when it is alleged the offender assaulted the woman with a saucepan.

“The woman was transported to Alice Springs Hospital to received treatment for injuries to her head.

“Police arrested the man at the scene and charged him with aggravated assault and being armed with an offensive weapon at night. He was also served a Domestic Violence Order.”

He will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“Domestic and family violence will not be tolerated and Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to this type of offending. Safety is everyone’s right and we will hold offenders to account for their actions,” Detective Acting Superintendent Malley said.
