Cannabis Seized - Adelaide River

Police have seized a commercial quantity of cannabis and arrested three people following a traffic apprehension in Adelaide River.

Detective Acting Superintendent Clint Sims said members from the Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk and Dog Operations Unit apprehended the vehicle on the Stuart Highway at around 9:20pm yesterday.

“Drug Detector Dogs Leo and Cougar gave a positive reaction to the vehicle. Police conducted a search and located one kilogram of cannabis concealed inside the panels of the vehicle.

“Police seized the cannabis and the vehicle and arrested two males aged 35 and 61 and a 24-year-old woman.

“All three were charged with possess and supply a commercial quantity of cannabis.

“The 35-year-old man was also charged with driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle.”

They were remanded in custody and will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

“Police continue to target known drug supply routes throughout the NT on a daily basis,” Detective Acting Superintendent Sims said.
