Detectives from the Southern Serious Crime Squad have charged two males aged 17 and 21 following a robbery in Alice Springs.
Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Dash said two offenders entered a service station on Spearwood Road, Sadadeen at around 7:30pm on Wednesday.
“It is alleged the offenders threatened an employee with a knife and stole a quantity of cash before fleeing the area.
“Police arrested the two males in Alice Springs CBD a short time later, they were both charged with aggravated robbery.”
The 21-year-old was also charged with:
- Drive medium range BrAC (0.166%)
- Drive unlicensed
- Drive unregistered motor vehicle
They will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 11 September today.
Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a red Mazda 3 sedan being driven erratically in Grevillea Drive, Sadadeen Road and Stott Terrace as well as the Alice Springs CBD on Wednesday night. Detectives also wish to speak with another man in relation to the robbery.
Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Dash said Police are interested in speaking with 19-year-old Brendan Payne.
“We believe Mr. Payne has information in relation to the incident, and are asking him to come forward and speak to Police.”
Payne is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 175cm tall and of slim build with short black hair and some facial hair.
