Detectives from the Sex Crimes Division are currently investigating an alleged indecent assault that occurred in the Darwin CBD early this morning.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Janelle Tonkin said at around 2:30am an unknown male entered a van parked in the vicinity of Peel Street and indecently assaulted the 20-year-old female occupant.

“The female attended Darwin Police Station this morning and reported the incident.

“The male is described as being of Aboriginal or Islander appearance, 172cm tall, aged in his early to mid-30s with short dark curly hair. He was wearing beige coloured shorts, a turquoise shirt and thongs or sandals.

“Police are asking anyone with any information to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
