Man Charged – Drink Driving – Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a 34-year-old man with high range drink driving following a traffic apprehension early this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the man was driving outbound along Dick Ward Drive, Fannie Bay when he overtook an unmarked Police car.

“On passing the unmarked Police car, the male stuck his middle finger up at officers.

“He was pulled over and subjected to a breath test, where he returned a high range reading (0.155BrAC).

“On further investigation he was found to be driving unlicensed in an unregistered and uninsured vehicle. He also had an outstanding warrant from 2011 for breaking a community service order.”

He was charged with:

  • Driving high range BrAC
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Drive unregistered motor vehicle
  • Drive uninsured motor vehicle
  • Warrant of apprehension.

He will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

“Drive safely and be courteous to your fellow motorists, you just don’t know who you may be abusing,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer.
