Tomorrow, 29 September, Police around Australia and the South Pacific will pause to mark National Police Remembrance Day with events being held in the Northern Territory in Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Nhulunbuy and Darwin.
The services will be held to honour Police officers who have either been killed on duty or who died while serving.
Since the foundation of the Northern Territory Police in 1870, nine NT Police Officers have been killed on duty and 55 have died while serving.
The National Police Memorial in Canberra bears the names of 757 Police Officers who have lost their lives in the execution of their duties since 1803. A group of 21 serving and retired Northern Territory Officers are in Canberra for the National Service as participants of the 2015 Wall to Wall Ride, having ridden their motorbikes from the Darwin Police Memorial Wall to the national monument.
The whole community is invited to join the services, attend the marches and honour our fallen officers.
A National Police Day ribbon is available from your local Police Station for a gold coin donation to Police Legacy.

1000 Ecumenical Service - Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral followed by morning tea on the lawns.
Katherine
0930 Katherine Regional Cemetery, graveside of Constable William Condon. Wreath laying ceremony followed by morning tea at Katherine Cemetery Memorial Rotunda.
Nhulunbuy
1000 Memorial Service – Police and Tracker Memorial at Nhulunbuy Police Station followed by morning tea.
Tennant Creek
0900 Tennant Creek Regional Cemetery, graveside of Sergeant Shane Kappler. Wreath laying ceremony followed by morning tea at the Tennant Creek Police Club.
