Unlawful Entry and Stealing – Two Charged – Alice Springs

Detectives from Strike Force Vega have charged two males following an unlawful entry and stealing incident in Alice Springs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley allege the two males aged 24 and 43 unlawfully entered a licensed premises on the Stuart Hwy, at around 1:40am Tuesday 13 October and stole a quantity of alcohol.

“Police alleged the two males attempted to steal a green wheelie bin full of alcohol but were disturbed by security guards and fled the scene, leaving the alcohol behind.

“It is then alleged the offenders returned to the area and unlawfully entered the same licensed premises at around 5:50am and stole a quantity of alcohol.

“Police located the two alleged offenders a short time later in possession of the stolen alcohol and the pair were arrested.

“Further investigations revealed the 24-year-old man also allegedly involved in an unlawful entry on 26 September where a number of compound bows were stolen.”

The 24-year-old was charged with:

  • Unlawful entry - building x 4
  • Stealing x 4
  • Damage to property x 3

The 43-year-old was charged with:

  • Unlawful entry - building x 2
  • Stealing x 2
  • Damage to property.

They will both appear in the Alice Springs court today.

“Northern Territory Police are committed to reducing property crime and have seen a decrease in unlawful entries in Alice Springs over the past three years,” Detective Senior Sergeant Malley said.

“We will continue to protect the community by identifying and arresting offenders who break into people’s homes and businesses.”
