Man Charged – Domestic Violence

Police

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 40-year-old man following a series of domestic violence offences against his partner.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the man was arrested last night after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

“He was found hiding in a cupboard at his Nightcliff residence. He was apprehended without incident and conveyed to Darwin Watch House for questioning.”

He was charged with:

  • Assault a Female (x4)
  • Aggravated Assault (x5)
  • Deprive a person of personal liberty
  • Breach of Bail

He will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

“Domestic violence is a crime and will not be tolerated by Police.  The fact that the offender was found hiding in his cupboard shows the cowardice of Domestic Violence offenders,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer.
