NT Police would like to thank the community for their efforts in the search for Edward James Horrell.

Acting Commander Michael Hebb said Horrell was arrested just before 11am today at Nhulunbuy Police Station.

It is believed Horrell attended a local residence where the occupants were able to convince him to surrender to police.

Horrell’s movements since escaping are still subject to investigation.

A/Commander Hebb said information from the public was invaluable during the search.

“Police thank the Nhulunbuy and surrounding communities for their support and for the information that was provided to Police during the response to the escape,” he said

Family members of Horrell’s victims are being informed of his arrest to allay any concerns.
