Armed man – Darwin

Police

Northern Territory Police last night took an armed man into custody after threats of self-harm.

The Territory Response Group was called to assist yesterday afternoon after reports that a 36-year-old man had obtained a firearm and was threatening to self-harm.

In the interests of public safety, an area around Robertson Barracks in Holtze was cordoned off and traffic diverted while Police negotiated his peaceful surrender, and took him into custody at about 12:30am.

Investigations into the incident are continuing and charges have not yet been laid.

Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and patience during this event.
