Northern Territory Police have charged a 24-year-old male following an alleged sexual assault on a woman in Palmerston yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Scott Manley from the Sex Crimes Unit said the alleged incident occurred around 7:00am in the vicinity of Roystonea Avenue.

Police attended and the male was arrested a short time later.

He was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

Northern Territory Police continue to call for information following the incident.

“In particular we would like to speak to an unknown individual that may have witnessed part of the incident as they rode past on their pushbike.

“We urge this person, or anyone one else with information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” said Senior Sergeant Manley.
