Female Charged – Obtain Benefit by Deception

Northern Territory Police have charged a 23-year-old female for allegedly receiving stolen property from a crime spree in Darwin.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said on 28 November a number of unknown individuals unlawfully entered a residence in Bellamack and stole a blue Toyota Camry and credit card.

“On 29 November another residence in Nightcliff was unlawfully entered and a white Honda Jazz was stolen along with a number of credit cards.

“On 30 November the 23-year-old female was identified on CCTV using one of the credit cards to purchase goods, she was later arrested at a residence in Karama.”

She was interviewed and subsequently charged with:

  • Obtain benefit by deception (x7)
  • Receive stolen property
  • Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • Unlawfully possess property (x2)

She will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

Enquires are continuing to identify further individuals involved in this matter.

Both stolen motor vehicles have since been recovered.
