Youth Charged Unlawful Entry Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 15-year-old male after he allegedly stole a vehicle from an Alice Springs residence overnight on 17 December.

Superintendent Travis Wurst said that there were several failed attempts to intercept the vehicle throughout the day and the youth was approached in the Yeperenye car park by Police officers around 12:00pm on 18 December.

“Police cordoned off the area where the male and the stolen vehicle were located. During an attempt to disable the stolen vehicle being driven by the youth offender, an officer was struck by the vehicle and fell to the ground sustaining minor injuries. The stolen vehicle then collided with a police vehicle before driving from the area.”

The youth was later apprehended in Sadadeen shortly after 4:30pm.

He was arrested and charged with:

  • Unlawful entry
  • Damage to property
  • Stealing
  • Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • Unlicensed driving
  • Recklessly endanger serious harm
  • Fail to comply with the direction of a Police officer
  • Fail to stop after crash
  • Drive in a dangerous manner
  • Unlicensed drive with alcohol in blood

He will appear in the Alice Springs Court today.

A 17-year-old male remains outstanding in connection with this incident.
