Youth Charged – Unlawful Entry and Stealing – Alice Springs

NT Police have charged a male youth for unlawful entry and stealing in Alice Springs today.

Constable First Class Andrew Smith of the Tactical Investigation said Police allege that two youths unlawfully entered residential premises in the early hours of 18 December.

 

“Two youths forcibly gained entry into a house at Mount Johns, whilst the occupants were asleep. Once inside the offenders stole the keys to the Toyota Camry that was parked outside.

“The offenders drove the vehicle around Alice Springs until it ran out of petrol in Sadadeen.

“A15-year-old youth was arrested on the 18 December and subsequently charged.

“Later that same day at around 9:30pm the 13-year-old offender returned to the premises and attempted to steal a Suzuki Ignis with keys that were stolen from the glove compartment of the Toyota Camry.

“The offender has reversed the vehicle and collided with the carport, before driving forward and crashing into a letterbox. He then fled the scene on foot.

He was apprehended and arrested on Thursday 24 December and was charged with:

  • Aggravated unlawful entry (dwelling) x 1
  • Stealing x 1    
  • Unlawful use of motor vehicle x 2
  • Drive while unlicensed x 1
  • Damage to property x 2

He has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Alice Springs Youth Court on the 29 December 2015.
