Detectives from Strike Force Vega have charged a 12-year-old male youth following an unlawful entry and stealing incident in Alice Springs CBD on 26 December.
Detective Superintendent Travis Wurst said that the youth absconded from a youth diversion program where he was bailed to reside after committing property offences in Darwin on 16 December.
“On the 26 December the youth allegedly used a rock to smash a vehicle window in the Alice Springs CBD and stole various items.
“He then gained entry into a CBD shopping centre and allegedly attempted to gain entry into a number of stores, without success.
“The 12 year old was arrested by Police at about 5:25am.
He has been charged with:
- Unlawful entry - Building
- Stealing x 2
- Trespass
- Property damage
- Breach bail
He will appear in the Alice Springs Youth Court today.
