Members from Task Force Nemesis have arrested two males and a female in two separate operations targeting the distribution of illicit substances in the Territory.

It is alleged around midday yesterday a Mitsubishi Triton was stopped by members as it travelled along the Arnhem Highway. Upon a search of the vehicle members located 56 grams of methamphetamine concealed upon a 31-year-old female.

The female and the 51-year-old male driver were arrested and conveyed to Darwin Watch House. Later, members executed a search warrant at their Herbert residence. A further 7 grams of methamphetamine was located, along with four firearms, two taser torches and two vials of steroids.

They will both appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today charged with possession of methamphetamine and various firearm and weapon offences.

In a separate operation members of Task Force Nemesis arrested a 40-year-old male yesterday following a traffic apprehension on Dick Ward Drive. Upon a search of the vehicle, 932 grams of cannabis was located, along with a small quantity of methamphetamine and an ice pipe.

He was charged with possession and supply of a commercial quantity of cannabis, possession of methamphetamine and possession of thing to administer dangerous drug. He will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

“Members from all agencies of the Nemesis Task Force are working together to achieve results such as yesterday’s seizures and arrests.  We certainly anticipate further arrests to stem from these operations over coming weeks,” said Detective Superintendent Clint Sims from the Drug and Organised Crime Division.

“If you are intent on profiting from the sale of illicit drugs in the Northern Territory we intend to meet with you soon.” 

Joint Taskforce Nemesis involves officers from the Australian Federal Police, Northern Territory Police, Australian Border Force and the Australian Crime Commission.
