A 32-year-old man arrested near Lake Bennett on Tuesday has been charged.

The man was wanted for alleged property and traffic offences.

A Police pursuit ensued after the man was observed at a caravan park in Coolalinga in possession of allegedly stolen property. The car was abandoned near Lake Bennett and the man fled into the bush.

He was later arrested.

Overnight he was interviewed and charged with:

• Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x2)
• Stealing (x2)
• Receive stolen property
• Trespass
• Criminal damage
• Dangerous driving
• Possess plates calculated to deceive
• Proceed through red light.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.
