Operation City Sweep Wrap Up – Darwin CBD

Operation City Sweep, an initiative targeting illicit drug supply in Darwin has concluded.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said the week-long operation, which ran from 20 to 26 January, saw a heightened street presence of members from the Drug Squad, Territory Response Group, Dog Unit, Traffic and General Duties.

“In total, Police seized 134 MDMA tablets, 962 grams of cannabis, a small quantity of methamphetamine and over $20,000 in cash.

“A total of twelve individuals will face Darwin Magistrates Court for various drug offences. A further seventeen individuals were issued infringement notices for drug and traffic offences.

“Northern Territory Police will continue to run similar operations to target those who seek to profit from the supply of illicit substances in the community.”
