Man Charged – Crime Spree – Alice Springs

Police from Strike Force Vega have charged a 20-year-old male following a series of unlawful entries in Gillen between 23 and 27 January.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said that the man was arrested on Friday 29 January.

“Police will allege the offender broke into a number of residences in Gillen and stole alcohol.

“He was then involved in the theft of a vehicle from a private residence in Desert Springs on 27 January.

“The offender drove the vehicle from Alice Springs to Arlparra where he unlawfully entered a business before stealing property from the location.

“Following this he travelled to Alpurrurulam Community, where he was subsequently arrested.

“Forensic evidence at the scene of the residence in Gillen positively identified the offender as involved in the unlawful entries.

“The stolen vehicle remains outstanding.

“Investigations into alleged co-offenders are ongoing,” he said.

The 20-year-old male was arrested and charged with:

  • Unlawful entry - dwelling (x4)
  • Unlawful entry - building
  • Damage to property (x5)
  • Stealing (x5)
  • Trespass (x3)
  • Fail to stop
  • Drive unlicensed

He was remanded in custody and will appear in the Alice Springs Court today.
