Members from Strike Force Romulus have arrested a 32-year-old man following an alleged assault on a 30-year-old female.
Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Dash said the incident occurred in Gillen about 12:30am Friday 29 January.
“The offender allegedly used an electrical cord to assault the female before he assaulted her further with a screwdriver, causing serious injuries.
“The woman was taken to the Alice Springs Hospital by members of her family. She remains in a stable condition.
“Police apprehended the man about 5:30pm later that day,” he said.
He was arrested and has been charged with:
- Serious harm
- Deprivation of liberty
- Armed with an offensive weapon x 2
The man was remanded in custody and will appear in the Alice Springs Court today.
“To treat your partner, someone who you supposedly love, in such a manner is beyond comprehension,” Detective Senior Sergeant Dash said.
