Police

Members from the Gangs Taskforce have seized 23 grams of methamphetamine and charged four males and a female following information received through the ‘Dob in a Dealer’ campaign.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Stringer said around 10:00am yesterday Police pulled over a silver Mitsubishi ASX travelling along Nightcliff road.

“Upon a search of the vehicle, members located 14 grams of methamphetamine. A 26-year-old male and a 30-year-old female were arrested and conveyed to Darwin Watchhouse.

“A search warrant was then executed at an apartment complex allegedly occupied by the pair, a further 2 grams of methamphetamine was located, along with $10,000 cash. A 25-year-old male who was present at the apartment at the time was also arrested.

“Later that day, Police intercepted a white Mitsubishi Challenger in the Darwin CBD. Following a search of the vehicle, a further 7 grams of methamphetamine was located. Two males aged 21 and 30 were arrested.

“Police believe the five individuals are known to each other and all are involved in a syndicate distributing methamphetamine to members of the Darwin community.”

All four males were charged with possession and supply of methamphetamine, they will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

The female was charged with possession of methamphetamine and was issued a notice to appear.

“This result highlights the important role members of the public have in working with Police to ensure the safety of their community,” said Detective Stringer.
