Charges – Assaults – Alice Springs Skate Park

Two youths have been charged in relation to several assaults at the Alice Springs skate park on Monday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips from Southern Investigations Division said seven victims aged 10-15 were approached by a second group of youths aged in their early teens about 1.30pm.

“An altercation has broken out between the groups. One of the victims was pulled from his bike and assaulted. After the assaults one of the offenders rode from the skate park with the bike.”

As a result, two boys aged 13 and 15 were arrested. They were charged with:

  • Aggravated assault (x7)
  • Stealing (x2)
  • Engage in violent conduct

The 15-year-old was bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court on April 1, while the 13-year-old was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court today.

Enquiries are continuing to locate a third youth.
